Committees
Committees are vital to the success of our CFMA chapter. Members can volunteer in a variety of ways within CFMA. This is a great way for you to get to know other members of the association. Time commitments vary by committee, but most meet once a month or quarter for about an hour. They are fun and informative meetings.
Membership Committee
Chair: Skip Weakley
Membership Committee is responsible for the Chapter’s membership recruitment and retention efforts. Main responsibilities of the Membership Committee include:
- Identifying and recruiting prospective members
- Promoting CFMA at events and answering inquiries regarding membership
- Integrate new members into the organization (onboarding)
- Hold Membership Drives
- Member Retention: The membership committee manages a retention campaign, follows up with members who have not renewed their membership, and maintains a headcount of General and Associate members
Programs Committee
Chair: Matthew Smith
Programs Committee is responsible for the development, planning, and execution of all Chapter luncheons, social events, and coordinate charity efforts. The committee meets as needed. The Programs Committee responsibilities are:
- Annual planning meeting
- Designing event calendar and developing chapter programs
- Executing chapter programs consists of:
- Working with Chapter Administrator to publicize all chapter Events via email and by posting events and their details to the Chapter website calendar.
- Coordinating announcements and speaker introductions.
- Working with Chapter Administrator to obtain the exact headcount for each event.
- Selecting venue and menu, making reservations, coordinating with the venue the banquet hall requirements and networking area, ensuring the venue is equipped with projector, microphone, and laptop for presentation.
- Confirming speakers prior to the event.
- Coordinating event agenda and introductions with Chapter President.
- Giving consideration to event sponsorships, if appropriate.
Sponsorship and Marketing Committee
Chair: Jody Williams
Sponsorship Committee is responsible for developing and selling the bundled sponsorship packages. The committee meets as needed.
The sponsorship committee is responsible for setting sponsor targets, sourcing sponsors, and selling sponsorship bundles to subsidize the Chapter events. This committee works closely with Chapter Administrator to ensure all sponsor logos are added timely to email blasts, website, and social media, and that all sponsors are accurately categorized. The committee also ensures sponsor recognition at all events agreed upon. The committee maintains the past and current list of sponsors.
Social Media Sub-Committee

Scholarship Committee
Chair: Jacob Pendergraft
The Scholarship Committee is responsible for selecting our scholarship institution recipients. We leave it up to each institution to determine what student will be awarded our scholarship funds. The committee meets as needed.

Social Committee
Chair: Sharon Randolph
The Social Committee is responsible for organizing our social events. This committee works closely with the Programming Committee and meets as needed.
Awards Committee
Chair: Victoria Terrell
The Awards Committee is responsible for tracking and awarding the member of the year program, as well as planning the annual membership and executive appreciation dinner.
Regional Conference Committee
Chair: Stacy Shiflet
The Regional Conference Committee is responsible for planning the Virginia's Regional Conference.
CCIFP Chapter Champion
David Sheaffer
The CCIFP Chapter Champion is responsible for increasing the number of CCIFPs in our chapter by talking about certification at chapter meetings. Supporting members who on in the process of being certified. Sharing information about being a CCIFP and supporting any study groups that we host.
Suicide Prevention Chapter Champion
Tori Terrell
The Suicide Prevention Chapter Champion is responsible for assisting with suicide prevention awareness among CFMA members and their companies. Suicide Prevention Chapter Champions are individuals who have a personal interest in this issue and/or want their local chapter(s) to become active in this cause.
