In this course, attendees will learn how risks can be avoided with specific contract language to help minimize a company’s liability exposure. Various case dispute situations, how contract clauses respond to real case examples, and best practice approaches to manage the circumstances will be addressed. The speakers will provide insight on sample construction project scenarios and determine the potential consequences of contract definitions and legal requirements.
After this session, attendees will be able to:
- Gain a deeper understanding of significant contract subjects.
- Acquire a bank of sample language to use in negotiating owner-contractor and contractor-subcontractor contracts.
- Understand how risks can be created and avoided by specific, and sometimes overlooked, contract language.
- Learn how to spot contract language that increases a company’s liability risk and how to negotiate provisions that minimize risk and apportion liability fairly among parties.
- Gain best practices on how to use a company’s counsel more effectively in preparing to negotiate difficult contract clauses.
Level & Prerequisites
This is a group-internet course at the Advanced Level. Attendees should complete CFMA’s Construction Contracts course for foundational elements prior to attending this course. Attendees should also have experience working with company contracts and possess knowledge of contract language and clauses.
CPE Information
Earn 4 CPE credits in the field of Business Law. Please note that CPE credit can only be earned by attending the live session and is not available by watching the recording.
CCIFP Information
